Historic Motorcycle Racing in WA is Booming!

The racing season is off to a roaring start with a growing membership base (we’re now at 172!), and the first two rounds have been a blast. The pits were buzzing with riders and their meticulously maintained machines after a long break, and everyone adhered perfectly to the new pit entry safety measures. The camaraderie was fantastic, with riders sharing smiles, banter, and high fives – a true testament to the supportive spirit within our community.

But the real excitement lies on the track! We’re seeing record-breaking entries across all classes, with grids packed full for some serious racing action. The Period 7 bikes (1990-1999 era) are making a strong entry, and even the Period 5 race is experiencing a resurgence.

Heritage racing is also adding a new dimension to the season, with Royal Enfield bikes joining the fun. These affordable and versatile machines are perfect for both racing and everyday riding, so be sure to check them out at MotorMAX in Osborne Park.

Mark your calendars for the State Championships on May 11th and 12th! This early date avoids clashing with other major events and allows for a showcase of truly special bikes alongside our regular racers. Last year’s Period 2 and 3 race was a hit, and this year promises to be even bigger with all Period 7 classes participating. Stay tuned for the official schedule on our website, and let’s keep this epic season rolling!

A Big Thank You to Our Sponsors!

We’re thrilled to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our incredible sponsors who have joined us this season! Their generous support is invaluable in keeping the wheels of historic motorcycle racing turning in WA.

As we extend a warm welcome to our new and existing sponsors this season, we also want to take a moment to acknowledge and thank our past sponsors who have tirelessly supported the club and our racers. Their contributions have been instrumental in shaping the vibrant community we have today.

This years sponsors are as follows.

A Heartfelt Tribute to Our Sponsor and a Dear Friend

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of a fellow sponsor and dear friend of the club, Dave Roberts, who recently lost his battle with cancer. Dave’s unwavering support and passion for historic motorcycle racing will be deeply missed.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt condolences to Dave’s family and friends during this difficult time. His memory will forever be cherished within the historic motorcycle racing community.

Sponsors’ logos represented around the pits

It’s always great to see sponsors’ logos represented around the pits. It’s a sign that the HCMC club is doing well and that sponsors are getting exposure. It also shows that our sponsors are committed to our success, for which the club is grateful. I’m sure it is gratifying for you to see your stickers on bikes, too. It’s a small thing but a reminder of the hard work you and your team have put into supporting the club.

Here are some other reasons why seeing sponsors’ stickers on bikes around the pits is excellent:

  1. It shows that our sponsors are getting exposure to a large audience.
  2. It helps to build brand awareness for your business.
  3. It can lead to new business opportunities.
  4. It makes you feel good that your sponsorship supports your chosen race class.

Please make sure you get your stickers on the bikes in your race class. This is an excellent way for the riders to be aware of who is sponsoring their class, and you get well-earned recognition.

Round 4 of the Collie Motorcycle Club’s Club championship was a great success.
The weather was perfect, and the track had some fantastic performances. 6 new lap records were set, and the juniors are remarkably close in the points standings.

The next round of the championship will be held on the Collie short track in 4 weeks. This will also be the 4th round of the Junior State Championships.
The Tribodyn Historic Motorcycle State Championships will be held over three days in late September. This event will be open to competitors only, and there will be no Juniors or Modern riders.

The race schedule for the Historic State Championships has been agreed upon, and it will feature eight races. Races with less than five entries will be run as club races, but they will not be eligible for a MWA Championship medallion.
The race schedule will be available on the club’s website after the next club round. The club is hoping for a big turnout for this premium event.

The Juniors had a fantastic day at Collie on Sunday, with two race lap records set and some great racing. Kelvin Moylan took the win in all three races, but Rossie McAdam was the star of the show, setting a new lap record in Race 2 and finishing third in Race 3. Joel Jenzen, Stevie Middlebrook, Lexie McAdam, Ryder Clarke, Ella Novak, Annabel Lovell and Hannah Glassby all put in strong performances, and it was great to see so many girls competing. A big thank you to Graeme Howie for the photos and to all the volunteers who helped make the day a success. Highlights of the day:

  • Two race lap records were set
  • Ella Novak had a great first race meeting, finishing 8th in all three races.
  • Anabel Lovell had a dynamite R3, finishing 7th.
  • Hannah Glassby and Ryder Clarke kept things smooth all day, making good progress.
  • All the Juniors did the club proud.

Support from our generous sponsors

Due to the support of our generous sponsors, we have been able to purchase the equipment to manufacture 2 generator distribution boards customised to suit our needs.
With the new marque pits recently constructed at Collie for up to 60 bikes these distribution boards will be essential and will save a lot of future hire costs.

Another essential expenditure has been to service 2 of our recovery vehicles and fit new tires.

For the first time, we will be advertising our State Championships in Australian motorcycle magazines such as “Old Bike Australia” and “Australian Motor Cycle News”.
We have advertised our regular Club Championship rounds through posters and shop flyers for our racing events and continue to see an increase in spectators at the track.
All of this is possible through your sponsorship of our Historic Race Club.

Now our next event scheduled for the Wanneroo track is getting closer and we still have not been able to meet the conditions to be able to hire the track.
The club has made the early decision to change the venue to the Collie Motorplex still on the 2nd of July and the upside is we now have a tuning day just prior to the 1st of July.

Good opportunity to use those tuning day vouchers!
